North Korean leader Kim Jong Un arrived in Russia on Tuesday for what the Kremlin said was a comprehensive talk with President Vladimir Putin amid warnings from Washington that the two big leaders should not exchange weapons. Kim was met at a train station in Russia by Russian officials, who were waiting for him with a military band and red carpets on the steps.

The Minister of Natural Resources of Russia stated that he met with Kim Jong Un, reports the Russian state news agency RIA. Kim is expected to hold talks during a visit with President Vladimir Putin, who is currently touring the Russian Far East.
Kim Jong-un left Pyongyang for Russia on Sunday on his private train, accompanied by top arms industry and military officials, North Korean state media said on Tuesday.
A Russian source with details of the North Korean leader’s trip told Reuters that Kim Jong Un arrived on Tuesday morning after disembarking from a train to meet with local officials in Hassan, Russia’s main rail gateway to the Far East, before continuing his journey.
Kim’s arrival was also announced on Tuesday by Russian state television, which showed a train believed to be carrying the North Korean leader.
In his 12 years in power, Kim Jong-un has been an infrequent traveler, making only seven trips outside the country and crossing the inter-Korean border twice. Four of these trips were to the main political ally – China.
Last week, the American newspaper The New York Times reported that the North Korean leader will travel to Vladivostok in an armored train to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
From September 10 to 13, Vladivostok hosts the Eastern Economic Forum organized by the Kremlin.
According to the US newspaper, Putin would like Pyongyang to sell Russia shells, artillery systems and anti-tank missiles, while North Korea would seek advanced technology to produce satellites and nuclear submarines, as well as food aid.
The last meeting between Putin and Kim took place in April 2019, also in Vladivostok.
