The Minister of Strategic Development of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kamyshyn, called the results of the inspection of 4,655 bomb shelters in Kyiv “disappointing”, reports Sky News.
The audit, which was completed this Saturday morning, found that only 15% of the shelters were fit for use “without significant problems”.
The other 50% is “technically adequate,” Kamisin said, but needs work to “get it in order.”
Of the analyzed shelters, 44% are freely accessible, while another 21% will be opened by guards to residents within five minutes of an air raid signal.
Kamisin said the inspection report would be prepared over the weekend.
