OUR Head of Diplomacy of the European Union Josep Borelsaid today that “everything (seems) indicates” that Russia was behind the destruction of the Kakhovka dam, for which Moscow and Kyiv accuse each other.

“The dam was not bombed. It was destroyed by explosives planted in the turbine areas. This zone is under Russian control,” Borrell told Spanish public television.

“I wasn’t there to know who did it. But everything seems to indicate that if this happened in a zone controlled by Russia, it would be difficult for someone else to do it, ”he continued.

“In every case, the consequences for Ukraine are terrible in all respects: from a humanitarian point of view for people who have been forced to leave their homes, from an environmental point of view, because the destruction (of the dam) will cause an ecological catastrophe,” Josep Borrell added.

Moscow and Kyiv accuse each other of destroying a dam on the Dnieper on Tuesday.

Russia, which Ukraine blamed for the dam explosion stop the Ukrainian offensive in the south in the direction of Crimea, said yesterday Thursday before the International Criminal Court that Kyiv destroyed this dam with massive artillery strikes.

The collapse of the dam, which is under Russian control in the occupied southern Ukraine, caused massive flooding, dead and injured.
