Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner paramilitary group, on Tuesday called “illusory” reports of Ukrainian losses claimed by Moscow, which claimed to have repelled two major offensives in two days, AFP reported.

“This is nothing but delusion,” Prigozhin said in a Telegram message.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that they repelled two large-scale Ukrainian offensives on Sunday and Monday in the south of Donbas, destroyed “more than 1,500 Ukrainian soldiers” and destroyed “28 tanks”, including 8 Leopard tanks.

For its part, the Ukrainian government claimed territorial gains near the battle-torn city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, but played down the scale of its offensive and did not provide a balance sheet.

The killing of 1,500 military personnel in one day is a “real massacre”, joked the head of the “Wagner” PMC, getting to the Russian Ministry of Defense spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

“In fact, why not add up all the numbers that Konashenkov announced? It seems that I have already destroyed the entire planet Earth five times in a row,” Prigozhin quipped.

Yevgeny Prigozhin regularly makes sarcastic statements against the Russian General Staff, which he accuses, in particular, of not providing enough ammunition to his men in Wagner, who were on the front lines in the battles near Bakhmut. (Agerpress)
