Wagner’s mercenaries, led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, made the incredible gesture of capturing a Russian regular army commander and releasing a video of his interrogation after a Russian lieutenant colonel was allegedly physically assaulted.
The video, published by Wagner’s mercenaries, was translated and distributed by Dmytro, the founder of the well-known website War Translated:
“- I’m listening carefully, come on! Who are you?
– I am lieutenant colonel Venetitin Roman, commander of the 72nd brigade. [de infanterie motorizată].
– Next. What did you do?
– I drunkenly shot at the car of Wagner’s PMC.
– Why did you do this?
– Out of personal enmity.
– Why do you have a personal dislike for Wagner PMC?
– I do not know”.
Wagner was detained and interrogated by none other than the commander of the 72nd Brigade Roman Venevitin. Wagner and the 72nd brigade shared positions in Bakhmut.

A Russian officer says he disarmed Wagner’s mercenaries along with a company of motorized infantry
Then, when asked by the interrogator what he did with his subordinates the day before, the Russian officer answers that he disarmed Wagner’s mercenary rapid response unit.
The interrogation continues:
“- How many people were in your group?
– 10-12 people.
– How many subordinates did you have yesterday?
“There were 10-12 people with me.”
The lieutenant colonel says that in addition to them, the fighters of the motorized infantry company also took part in the disarmament of the “Wagner” PMC. Under pressure from the interrogator, he repeated that it was due to “personal enmity.”
Yevgeny Prigozhin accused the Russian army of trying to blow up his mercenaries
The release of this video of the Russian officer’s interrogation comes after the head of the Wagner paramilitary group accused the Russian military of trying to blow up his men late last week.
In a Telegram post, Prigozhin said his troops had found a dozen buildings where Defense Ministry officials had planted explosives, including anti-tank mines, and that officials said the orders to install the devices had come from them.
Prigozhin stated that this step was not “necessary to deter the enemy” because it was about the “rear”. “It can therefore be assumed that these charges were intended to meet Wagner’s advancing units,” he said.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia did not comment on the accusations made by the head of the mercenaries.
Records of “Chef Putin’s” accusations against the military command
Just last week, Prigozhin said that his mercenaries would continue to fight in Ukraine if his men could get a separate section of the front without having to depend on the “clowns” who run the Russian armed forces.
“If the entire chain (of command) is 100% failed and is run only by clowns who turn people into meat, then we will not participate in it,” he said, further escalating the conflict with the military command in Moscow. .
Prigozhin’s comments came after mercenary leader Wagner said in late May that he had asked Russian prosecutors to investigate possible crimes committed by senior Russian defense officials before and after the start of a “special military operation” in Ukraine last year.
Prigozhin repeatedly accused Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, as well as other high-ranking officials, of sabotaging Russia’s military efforts.
