
The Israeli military announced that two Israeli soldiers were killed in a border incident earlier today on the southern border with Egypt.
“This morning, a security incident occurred in the area of the Paransk Regional Brigade. Two Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers, a man and a woman, were killed in a shootout near the border (with Egypt). The episode is being reviewed. The Israel Defense Forces is conducting searches in the area,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
It is not clear if these incidents are related or with whom the Israeli armed forces are exchanging fire. A military spokesman said the military is investigating the incident.
The Israeli news site ynet reported on “a serious security incident on the border with Egypt.
Israel and Egypt signed a peace treaty in 1979. However, there have been deadly attacks by militant groups on the border between the two countries in the past.
