Italy: Floods reveal World War II bombs

floods in the Emilia-Romagna region Italy they claimed the lives of 15 people and caused damage in excess of 5 billion euros. The losses are great, and the country is seriously considering what can be done to prevent more such tragedies.

However, at the same time, the media mention another danger. A corresponding alarm was filed by the regions of Forlì and Ravenna and concerns another consequence of the flood. Rushing waters and extensive damage to farmland have caused World War II explosive devices to float to the surface and now have the potential to explode.

By this point in the Ravenna area, men and women of the Italian army had identified 6 bombs from this period. The mechanisms have been neutralized, but experts note that there are probably others and every possible effort should be made not to put farmers and rural residents at risk.

At the same time, however, it is highly likely that the churning waters carried these bombs of the last century to the central regions of different cities, which means that the danger is multiplied. At the moment, in many areas of the Emilia-Romagna region, the Italian army has posted posters on the streets with photographs of explosive devices found and urged all residents to be as careful as possible.
