
US demands release of political prisoners in Belarus
The United States condemns the detention of more than 1,500 political prisoners in Belarus and calls for their “immediate and unconditional” release. “These men and women were arrested and jailed for exercising their human rights and fundamental freedoms in pursuit of Belarusian democracy, for protesting fraudulent elections or for opposing Russia’s war against Ukraine.
