British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak denied the accusations of the Russian president Vladimir Putin in his speech during the Victory Parade on Red Square, according to which the West, with its “unbridled ambitions,” declared a “real war” to Russia.
Putin in his speech stated that “humanity is once again at a decisive turning point” and added that “a real war has been unleashed against our Motherland.”
The British prime minister dismissed these allegations, saying that the Russian leader bears full responsibility for the war.
In his speech Putin insisted that the West’s “unbridled ambition, arrogance and impunity” were to blame for the conflict.
He greeted the soldiers fighting in Ukraine who were present at the parade and ended his speech with the words: “For Russia! For our heroic armed forces! To win!”
Earlier, Russia launched a flurry of cruise missile strikes on Ukrainea few hours before the start of the parade in Moscow, which this year took place under draconian security measures
Speaking to broadcasters in Southampton, Sunak said:Only one person is responsible for the illegal and unprovoked war in Ukraine: President Putin.. The crimes committed are terrible” and “terrible are the sufferings of the Ukrainian people”.
“That is why it is right that we remain steadfast in our support for the people of Ukraine to resist this attack. This is what the UK and I will continue to do,” said the British Prime Minister.
