Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to the incident with the Kremlin drone “calmly”, according to the TASS news agency, citing Reuters.

“You know that the president always remains calm and clear in his assessments and orders in difficult, extreme situations. Nothing new has happened in this regard. As always, a working atmosphere. Everyone is working, everyone is at their place,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Moscow accuses Washington of the attempt

Peskov accused Washington of attacking Putin, arguing that U.S. officials should know that Russia knows the U.S. is choosing targets and Ukraine is only carrying out plans. He provided no evidence to support the claim of US involvement.

Ukraine denies any involvement in the incident, which occurred early Wednesday, when a video showed two flying objects approaching the Kremlin and one of them exploding.

“Attempts to debunk it both in Kyiv and in Washington are, of course, completely ridiculous. We know very well that decisions regarding such actions, such acts of terrorism, are not made in Kyiv, but in Washington,” said Peskov.

He stated that the US often chooses both the targets that Ukraine should attack and the means of attack.

“This is also often dictated from abroad. We know it well and are aware of it… In Washington, we must clearly understand that we know it.”

The Kremlin said it reserved the right to retaliate, but did not say what form it might take.

Peskov noted that Russia has several options and that the answer, when it comes, will be carefully analyzed and balanced. He said an urgent investigation was underway but could not say when the results would be known.

On Friday, Putin will take part in the meeting of the Security Council

Peskov added that the Security Council meeting on Friday was planned and was not a response to the alleged drone strike.

“As planned, tomorrow, on Friday, the president will have an operational meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council. It is planned, so it will be. Of course, we can assume with a great deal of confidence that this topic will be considered,” said Peskov.

Peskov did not comment on the media’s question whether Russia now considers Volodymyr Zelensky a legitimate military target.

The Russian government, which accuses Ukraine of wanting to kill Vladimir Putin, orchestrated a drone attack on the Kremlin on Tuesday night with “the intention of bringing the war to the Russian population and creating the conditions for mobilization.” broader social” in the country, against the background of the expected Ukrainian counteroffensive, according to analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War.
