Russia will use missiles manufactured last fall or winter to strike Ukraine, Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said on national television on Saturday, writes The Kyiv Independent.

Ignat added that Russia still has missiles and is also continuing to produce them, albeit at a slow pace.

“We know that the Russians have few missiles left, although they continue to produce them,” he said.

It will be recalled that early in the morning on Friday, Russia launched the first major wave of cruise missile attacks on Ukraine since the beginning of March 2023.

A massive cruise missile strike on Friday shows that Russia has changed its tactics of using long-range strikes, but Moscow has a problem, Britain’s Ministry of Defense said in an assessment on Saturday.

Although Ukraine shot down most of the missiles, at least 25 civilians were killed.

The British Ministry of Defense says fewer missiles were used during the surge than during the winter, and there is a real possibility that Russia was trying to intercept Ukrainian reserve units and military supplies recently delivered to Kyiv.

The problem is that Russia has an ineffective targeting process and prioritizes achieving military objectives over preventing collateral damage, including civilian casualties, British military intelligence said.
