Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today accused Conservative leader Pierre Poilevar of recruiting American billionaires to attack the country’s public broadcaster after he called on its owner Twitter Elon Musk called the Canadian CBC network “government funded”.
Poillèvre himself revealed on Twitter last week that he wrote Musk a letter asking him to brand CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) “correctly”. On Sunday, some of the public broadcaster’s messages appeared marked “publicly funded media.”
Poilièvre, who last year took over as leader of the party and is calling for a halt to CBC funding, welcomed the decision, tweeting that “People now know this is Trudeau’s propaganda, not news.”
