Sudan: Blinken called for an immediate end to military violence

ABOUT American Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anthony Blinken said today that he is deeply concerned about reports of an escalation in violence between the Sudanese military and the main RSF paramilitary organization, while calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities.

“We are in contact with our embassy team in Khartoum, everyone is currently held accountable,” Blinken wrote on Twitter. “We call on all parties involved to immediately stop the violence and avoid further escalation of hostilities or mobilization of forces, but continue negotiations to resolve important issues.”

The Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced today that they are in control of the presidential palace, the residence of army commander General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the international airport in Khartoum as a result of an attempted coup.
