According to some studies, the industry could directly electrify 76% of the energy and heat it consumes with technologies that are commercially available today.

Network investment must be doubled from the current 40 billion euros per year by 2040 at the latest. By 2030, Europe will need an additional 85 GW of interconnection capacity on top of the current 50 GW.

Two Overheating Scenarios

Under the Paris Agreement, countries committed themselves to keeping global warming preferably at +1.5°C. The consequences of +2°C will be very serious. The world’s population exposed to extreme heat increases from 14% to 37%. Double loss of vertebrates and plants, triple loss of insects. Virtually disappearance of coral reefs (99%) and a 2.3-fold decrease in crop yields in the tropics!Study-Analysis: Electrification and Grid Investment-1
