Heavy gunfire was heard in the Sudanese capital Khartoum today after clashes broke out between the Sudanese army and the militant group Rapid Support Forces, according to an eyewitness quoted by Reuters.
The shooting was heard near the headquarters of the Sudanese army and the Ministry of Defense in the center of Khartoum. A Reuters reporter said smoke billowed into the sky in several places and soldiers were posted on the streets.
According to AFP, the paramilitaries blame the army for the attack on their base in Khartoum.
