Russia: Putin has created a fund to support soldiers fighting in Ukraine

OUR Vladimir Putin today signed a decree on the creation of a special fund to support soldiers fighting in Ukraine and their families is another social measure announced by the President of Russia in connection with the invasion of a neighboring country.

The Russian military has suffered heavy losses since February 24, 2022, when invasion of Ukraine, and after many military defeats. In September, Putin mobilized 300,000 reservists.

The decree on supporting the so-called “Defenders of the Fatherland” was published today on the official website of the Russian government. According to this, in addition to the soldiers fighting at the front, the fund will also support their wives and children.

Putin announced the creation of this fund on February 21 in a speech to the Russian parliament, although its total amount was not named.

“Our duty is to support families who have lost loved ones, help them raise their children, give them education and work,” the Russian president said.

This fund “will provide targeted and individual assistance to the families of the fallen soldiers, as well as veterans” of the war in Ukraine, he specified.

A few days later, Putin added that the government itself would be responsible for the fund.
