Moldova is not threatened by an “immediate military danger”, but by a “hybrid war” that Moscow is waging to overthrow the pro-European leadership, the Moldovan Defense Minister said in an interview with AFP.
“Although there is currently no ‘military threat’, Moldova is affected by ‘disinformation and tension in society caused by Russia’,” Anatoly Nosatii said, referring to “provocations” organized to sow chaos and “change the political order.”
Moldovan police yesterday announced the arrest of members of a network suspected of organizing and leading Russia to destabilize Moldova in connection with a new demonstration against the pro-European government of Ukraine’s neighbor.
The White House on Friday accused Moscow of seeking to weaken the Moldovan government in order to install a government of its own choosing.
