
Lukashenko arrived on visit to China
The ruler of Belarus arrived on a state visit to China. Alexander Lukashenko’s plane on Tuesday, February 28, landed at the airport in Beijing.
According to the Belarusian ruler, he is looking forward to meeting his “old friend”, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Xinhua news agency reported.
Speaking to the agency ahead of the visit, Lukashenka praised Beijing’s position paper on Ukraine as “evidence of its peaceful foreign policy, as well as a new and independent step that will have far-reaching consequences for the entire world.” Today, “not a single problem in the world can be solved without China,” added Aleksandr Lukashenko.
The Belarusian ruler was received at the airport by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ma Zhaoxu, and by the Chinese ambassador to Belarus, Xie Xiaoyong. The meeting was also attended by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik, the Ambassador of Belarus to China Yuri Senko.
A large package of documents is expected to be signed
The focus will be on the development of commercial, economic, investment and humanitarian cooperation, the implementation of joint projects, interaction in the political sphere, the response to the most acute challenges on the international scene, informed BelTA.
In Beijing, Lukashenka will also hold a series of meetings with senior PRC officials, the leadership of major Chinese corporations. As a result of the negotiations, a large package of documents is expected to be signed.
As ruler of Belarus, Lukashenko visited China 12 times
Lukashenka visited China 12 times as ruler of Belarus. He has met with Xi Jinping 12 times during his visits to China, Belarus and international venues. The visit ends on the 2nd of March.
French President Emmanuel Macron plans to fly to China in early April. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel are also preparing a trip to China. The visit may take place in the first half of 2023.
