Government Biden expected to introduce new sanctions about 200 individuals and legal entities from Russia a source with knowledge of the matter told the Wall Street Journal this week.
This new package is part of the US government’s “commemorative” package, which also includes sending $460 million in new military aid to Ukraine.
The new sanctions come as Washington and its allies, especially in Europe, are looking for new ways to block Moscow’s access to vital goods that could boost Russian defense and technology.
It is noted that Joe Biden previously mentioned a new package of sanctions during his speech in Poland, which he even praised for the role he played in the last twelve months of the war in Ukraine.
Joe Biden reaffirmed that the US will defend every inch of NATO territory. “Every NATO member knows this. And Russia also knows this: an attack on one is an attack on all,” he said, referring to the 5th article from the hall of his speech in Warsaw.
The American president also announced that the United States will host the next NATO summit in 2024, and next year marks the 75th anniversary of the formation of the North Atlantic Alliance.
