After winning the qualification final and entering the main draw of the contenders tournament in Roverto (Italy), Marius Kopil managed to qualify for the 1/8 finals.

The Romanian athlete passed the first round, defeating Poland’s Kacper Zuk, after 2 hours and 36 minutes of play.

The first set ended in a tie-break, where Zook (260 ATP) managed to win, 7-6(5). Kopil came back and won the next two sets, 7-5, 6-4.

In the 1/8 finals of the tournament, Roberto Copil (395 ATP) will meet the winner between the Belgian Raphael Collignon (236 ATP) and the French Antoine Escoffier (183 ATP).

The best position of the Romanian athlete is 56 ATP in January 2019. He earned $2,627,637 in tennis and won the Futures tournaments in Romania (2007, 2008) and Guatemala (2010).

Another Romanian in Rovereto’s main draw, Filip Gianu (267 ATP), ended his career in the second set of his first-round match against Japan’s Kayachi Uchida (195 ATP).
