At least 16 people, most of them wedding guests, died Sunday in Pakistan when the bus they were traveling on suffered brake failure and collided with oncoming traffic before plunging into a canyon.
The loaded bus was traveling from Lahore to Islamabad, near Kalar Kahar, and the driver reportedly lost control due to brake failure.
The car flew into oncoming traffic, collided with two other cars and crashed into the void, landing upside down.
The result was the instant death of the driver and 12 passengers, and three more passengers died at a nearby hospital. At least 63 people were injured, 13 of them seriously.
This is the fourth fatal traffic accident in Pakistan in the past two months.
Pakistani President Shebaz Sharif expressed his regret over the tragic event.
