Disney’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania debuted at the North American box office with $110 million, surpassing expectations and by far the biggest opening of a Marvel trilogy, according to AFP and News.ro.
The adventure film, starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, is expected to bring in $118 million or $120 million at 4,345 North American theaters through President’s Day Monday.
It is the first US$100 million domestic debut since 2023. The film added $121 million to its international box office, with a worldwide total of $225 million.
“This is a great entry in Marvel’s blockbuster canon,” said David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research, despite the “abnormally weak” box office for this time of year, he continued.
With actor Paul Rudd as Ant-Man and actress Evangeline Lilly by his side, the superhero movie crushed its competition.
