A clear signal that he is not ready to agree to the cession of any part of the territory of Ukraine in the framework of a possible peace agreement with Russia was sent by the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

In an interview he gave BBC – a year after the Russian invasion – made it clear that ceding territory would mean Russia “may return” to Ukrainewhile arguing that military support from the West will bring peace closer.

Russia’s Spring Offensive Has Already Begun

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, the “spring offensive” has already begun: “Russia is attacking from different directions.”

He still believes Ukrainian forces can hold out until they can launch a counterattack. Zelensky did not fail to repeat his call for military assistance to the West.

“Undoubtedly, modern weapons can speed up the world. Weapons are also the only language that Russia understands,” Zelensky noted, in particular.

It is recalled that a week ago, Zelensky met with the British Prime Minister and European leaders in an attempt to increase international support for Ukraine, as well as with the existing call and demand for a military increase. At the same time, Kyiv seems to be complaining about delays in sending military aid from the West. Zelensky expressed hope that Belarus would not be drawn into the war, noting however that “if that happens, we will fight and survive,” adding that “to use Belarus again as a ‘base’ for an attack would be a huge mistake.”

Asked if he was surprised by Russia’s tactical choices in the war, Zelenskiy immediately called them “useless.”
