Earlier today, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that two Russian cruise missiles crossed the airspace of Romania and Moldova before entering Ukraine.

What does the Romanian Foreign Ministry say?

In a statement on the matter, the Romanian Defense Ministry said a Russian missile fired from a ship near Crimea passed through Moldovan airspace before hitting Ukraine. As he clarified, the missile did not enter Romanian airspace.

“The closest recorded distance from Romanian airspace was about 35 km. northeast of our border,” the statement said.

Moldova’s response

Moldova called the Russian ambassador this morning in connection with a missile incident in which Moldova said at least one missile passed through its airspace and headed towards Ukraine, Reuters reported.

Regarding the resignation of the pro-Western Moldovan government and the appointment of former interior minister Dorin Recean as prime minister, the US representative limited himself to saying that the US “respects” the decisions taken by Chisinau.
