Zelensky’s second visit abroad
“President Zelenskiy’s visit to the United Kingdom is a testament to his country’s courage, determination and struggle, and a testament to the unbreakable friendship between our two countries,” Sunak said in a statement.
The British Prime Minister continues to resist former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s calls to send fighter jets to Ukraine and has vowed to expand Ukrainian military training to include fighter pilots and marines.
The UK will announce new sanctions later today targeting those who helped Russian President Vladimir Putin “accumulate his personal wealth and companies that benefit from the Kremlin’s war machine.”
This will be Zelenskiy’s second visit abroad since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
