Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias had a telephone conversation with his counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu following the devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale in Turkey.

The Greek Foreign Minister told his colleague that Greece is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Turkey.

“My condolences to the families of the victims. “Greece is ready to immediately provide assistance in rescue work and compensation for damage,” the Foreign Minister wrote on Twitter.

In the next few hours, a group of 21 firefighters from the 1st EMAK is leaving.

It is noted that a group of 21 firefighters from the 1st EMAK with two rescue dogs and a special rescue vehicle is leaving in the coming hours as a relief mission to Turkey, which was hit by a severe earthquake.

At the behest of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Greece immediately responded to Turkey’s request to send aid to deal with the devastating effects of a powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.8 that struck southeast Turkey and Syria in the early hours of February 6.

The team will be accompanied by a Fire Engineer Officer with experience in reinforcing the ruins of a collapsed building, 5 doctors and rescuers from EKAV, and OASP President Efthymios Lekkas.

The mission will depart by C-130 aircraft from Elefsina Airport.
