Before leaving for Moscow, Lynn Tracy met with the Russian ambassador to the USA, Anatoly Antonov.

“We have made clear our desire to maintain open channels of communication with Russia,” US State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Tuesday, adding that the channels are used “to communicate the US position on issues of the highest priority” to Washington, including wrongfully detained American citizens and the costs of Russian escalation.
