President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said today during a conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz that he is “sincerely grateful” that Berlin gave the go-ahead to send Leopard tanks to Kyiv.
“We sincerely thank the chancellor and all our friends in Germany,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter, explaining that he spoke with Soltz on the phone.
German main battle tanks, further expansion of defense and training support, green light for partners to supply similar weapons. Just heard about these important and timely decisions while talking to @OlafSholtz. Sincerely grateful to the Chancellor and all our friends in 🇩🇪.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba appealed to all countries with Leopard 2 tanks in service to “provide as much as possible” to help Ukraine repel the Russian invasion.
“So, the tank coalition has been formed. Everyone who doubted that this could ever happen now sees that nothing is impossible for Ukraine and partners,” he wrote on Twitter.
“I call on all new partners with Leopard 2 battle tanks to join the coalition and provide as many of them as possible.”
