Mercedes wants a new contract with Lewis Hamilton until the end of the 2025 season

Hamilton’s current contract with Mercedes runs until the end of the 2023 season, and Wolff offered some clarification on what will happen to the multiple world champion.

As quoted by DPA, Toto Wolff says he is optimistic about extending Lewis’ contract until the end of the 2025 season.

At that time, Hamilton would have turned 40 years old.

Lewis’ intentions are clear as far as possible, he wants a single-seater capable of helping him fight for another world title.

Had that happened, Hamilton would have overtaken Schumacher.

“We spoke very early on and said that Lewis will always have a driver’s seat with us. The decision will always be discussed between us.

Lewis would be the first to say if he doesn’t like it anymore or thinks he’s not fast anymore.

We will, of course, conduct negotiations, as in previous years. I don’t see any signs that we should change anything” – Toto Wolfffor the magazine Auto, Motor und Sport, reports Agerpres.

We will remind you that the last two world championship titles (2021, 2022) went to Max Verstappen, the pilot of RedBull Racing.

At the age of 38, Hamilton won the Formula 1 World Championship title 7 times, sharing first place with the legendary Michael Schumacher.

The Brit won in the 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons.

He has 103 Grand Prix victories, 191 podium finishes, 4,405.5 career points and 103 pole positions.
