Grossi’s remarks came a day after Russia’s foreign intelligence service claimed that Ukraine was stockpiling Western weapons at nuclear power plants across the country, a claim that a senior Ukrainian official dismissed as false.
Grossi told the European Parliament that his agency has established a permanent presence at all of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities and that he ordered inspections today to determine if any of them carry military equipment.
“The result of these checks is negative,” he said.
Grossi added that this is the second time the IAEA has been able to “refute claims that illegal and very dangerous things are happening at these sites,” citing earlier “dirty bomb” allegations.
