“They (the Russians) are still very strong and we fear that they are preparing for another offensive in a few months, so it is imperative to send additional support to Ukraine, especially modern tanks and modern missiles,” Andrzej Duda told the annual. meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Speaking after a special speech by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who addressed via video conference, Andrzej Duda showed that the current level of aid provided to Ukraine is inadequate, and therefore it is extremely important to provide Kyiv with additional support with modern tanks and missiles.
The Polish president also said that the war in Ukraine “has made some of the worst-case scenarios come true,” Radio Polonia reported, according to News.ro. “Until recently, many experts from Western Europe only smiled when these scenarios were mentioned. Duda: “Gazprom” behaves like a “military arm of Moscow”.
He, on the other hand, showed that Russia’s energy policy is not business, but politics, and Gazprom behaves, in fact, as a “military arm of Moscow”, whose task is to obtain economic advantages, especially in a strategic sense and to help achieve Russian domination.
“When I said that, many of my colleagues among the European leaders just smiled,” the Polish leader emphasized again.
Duda showed that Poland began to diversify energy sources, having learned the hard lesson of Ukraine’s energy blackmail against Russia, and today Poland’s independence from Russian gas is complete.
“Today, Poland has two-way gas interconnectors that connect us with Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Germany. Today, firstly, in addition to the gas terminal in the northwestern port of Świnoujście, we also have a pipeline that transports gas. from the Norwegian plateau through Denmark to Poland. In this way, we ensured that we could meet almost all of our demand from non-Russian sources. We can confidently say that in this regard, Poland is an absolute European leader, a pioneer, especially in our part of Europe. Today, our independence from Russian gas supplies is complete,” Duda also said during a panel discussion in Davos, the topic of which was “The Path to European Energy Sovereignty.”
The World Economic Forum 2023, attended by other officials from Poland, including Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin, will continue until Friday.
