The number of people killed as a result of Russian rocket fire on a residential quarter in Dnipro has increased to 35, The Guardian reports.
Governor of Dnipro Oblast Valentin Reznichenko confirmed on his Telegram channel on Monday morning that 35 people were killed in the attack.
- “The search and rescue operation in Dnipro has been going on for almost 40 hours.
- At night, rescuers pulled out several more dead from the rubble of a high-rise building destroyed by a Russian missile.
- Then an enemy attack took the lives of 35 residents of the building. Among them are two children.
- 39 people were saved, 75 were injured. Among the injured are 14 children.
- The fate of another 35 residents of the building is unknown. The search for people under the rubble continues,” Reznichenko wrote.
Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov is not optimistic about the number of people who will be saved.
“The chances of saving people are now minimal. I think the number of dead will be counted in dozens,” Filatov told Reuters.
Taking responsibility for the missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that it had achieved its goal.
At the same time, he did not mention the attack on a residential building in Dnipro.
