President Volodymyr Zelenskyi told Ukrainians on Tuesday evening that Russia is preparing for a new mobilization and a new offensive, and Ukraine needs to strengthen its defenses, and for this it is counting on international support.
“We started this year with what Ukraine needs most right now, on the eve of new mobilization processes that the terrorist state is preparing. Now is the moment when together with our partners we must strengthen our defense,” Zelensky explained, News.ro reports.
“We have no doubt that the current masters of Russia will throw everything they have left into the battle and everyone they can gather to try to turn the tide of the war or at least postpone their defeat,” the Ukrainian president continued.
“We have to disrupt this Russian scenario. We are preparing for it. The terrorists must lose. Any attempt at a new offensive must fail. This will be the final defeat of the terrorist state,” Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.
“Russia mobilizes those it wants to throw to death, we mobilize the civilized world. For the sake of life. I thank all partners who understand this,” added the Ukrainian leader, who specified that during the day he had talks with four international leaders whose help is very important: the Prime Minister of Canada, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Prime Minister Prime Minister of Norway and Prime Minister of the Netherlands.
“Norway’s role can become truly historic in the defense of Europe”
He stated that Norway will supply Ukraine with gas, as well as weapons, and Norway’s role “could become truly historic in the defense of Europe.”
“I thank Norway for the very strong decisions that have already been made and are still being prepared. This also applies to armed support – Norway’s role can become truly historic in the defense of Europe if we implement everything we are talking about now. This also applies to maintaining our energy system. In particular, I thank Norway for its willingness to help supply Ukraine with the necessary amount of gas for this winter,” detailed Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
“I am grateful to the United Kingdom for the very concrete agreements reached, primarily in the field of defense. Today, in a conversation with Prime Minister (Rishi) Sunak, we felt that we equally perceive the importance of this year, the prospects of this year, the fact that a decisive advantage can be gained right now, not allowing Russia to win back to one side of the front or the other.” , – noted the Kyivan.
“I am grateful to Canada for its steadfast defense, sanctions and financial support. I spoke with Prime Minister (Justin) Trudeau today about how we can increase the pressure on Russia even more. I believe that Canadian assistance to our defense this year will be significant,” Zelenskyi said.
As for the Netherlands, their help concerns, in particular, the trial of war crimes committed by Russia. “I am grateful to the Netherlands for sharing with us the same understanding of justice, of how this war should end. Today I informed Mr. Prime Minister (Mark) Rutte about the immediate intentions of the enemy, about what Russia is preparing for the winter months and the beginning of spring. I am sure that Ukraine will be listened to in Europe,” Zelenskyy said.
He promised that he would continue such diplomatic activities every day – “both official and informal, both public and non-public.”
“The Russian missile against the Altair skating rink is another evidence of a terrorist state”
Zelenskyi also informed his compatriots that he also had a “long” meeting at the General Staff of the Army, where the head reported on the situation at the front, and the head of intelligence gave an assessment of the movements expected from the Russian side in the coming weeks and months.
“We determine in great detail the needs of Ukraine, our defense, our energy industry. And we are specifically working with partners to meet each of these needs,” Zelensky emphasized.
Finally, he mentioned the Russian shelling that took place on Monday in the Donetsk region, after which the ice rink in Druzhkivka was destroyed by a rocket.
“This ice arena – Altair – began to function even before the war, when life was normal in Donbas before the arrival of Russia. The children trained there. There was a sports school for children. Hockey competitions were held there. There, people played sports, celebrated and simply enjoyed life. Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Kostiantynivka, Bakhmut, Pokrovsk, Donetsk, Toretsk and other cities and villages of Donbas – everyone knew what kind of arena it was, and many people visited it. Last year, it was used to collect and distribute humanitarian aid. The Russian missile at the “Altair” arena in Druzhkivka is another evidence of a terrorist state. This is evidence of what has come to Donbas and that we will definitely drive out of there. Death in Donbas will not win, and we must do everything to throw out the tricolor from Donbas and other lands of Ukraine,” concluded the President of Ukraine.
