“The EU will intensify its efforts to support Ukraine in restoring and maintaining electricity and heat supply,” the President of the European Commission said. Ursula von der Leyen.
In her statement, she said the EU would deliver to Ukraine “as soon as possible” large donations from member states and from the European Commission’s reserves.
He stressed that the EU will provide 200 medium transformers and one large autotransformer from Lithuania, one medium autotransformer from Latvia and 40 heavy generators from the EU reserve.
He added that each of these generators “can provide uninterrupted power to a small and medium-sized hospital.”
He expressed the EU’s “full solidarity” with the Ukrainian people, who are suffering from the “deliberate and barbaric bombardment” of the country’s infrastructure by Vladimir Putin.
