
Two men died today when a helicopter crashed and caught fire in southeastern France. A French helicopter pilot and passenger, a Russian-born businessman with a Maltese passport, have been found dead.
The helicopter took off from Lausanne, Switzerland, to Monaco. The accident happened around 14:00.
The victims were a French pilot who worked for Monaco’s private company Monacair and a passenger, a businessman of Russian origin with a Maltese passport. The helicopter was supposed to carry a second passenger, but canceled his flight at the last moment.
According to the company, the pilot, who was about 30 years old, knew the area well, and the helicopter was “of the latest generation.”
