
Her men and women Italian The Economic Police today rescued seventy migrants aboard an overturned boat off the coast of Lampedusa.
The survivors sailed from Sfax, Tunisia, and hail from Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Mali. There are also eight minors among them.
Shortly after the rescue operation, the couple reported to Italian authorities that their daughter, born just a few weeks earlier, fell into the water when the boat capsized and they were unable to rescue her. The investigation continues in the hope that the baby can be found alive.
