Earlier, thousands of people gathered on the Royal Mile, the main thoroughfare of the Scottish capital, to say goodbye to the Queen.

At the head of the procession, surrounded by soldiers dressed in Scottish garb, was King Charles III, who was accompanied by his brothers and sisters, Princess Anne and Princes Andrew and Edward.

Subsequent mourning events

Tuesday, September 13 (4 days after Elizabeth’s death)

King Charles III and his wife will fly to Belfast and meet at Hillsborough Castle for an exhibition on the Queen and her relationship with Northern Ireland.

Charles will then meet with the minister responsible for Northern Ireland and party leaders. At 13:20 he will receive condolences from the Parliament of Northern Ireland.

After a short reception at Hillsborough, the royal couple will head to St. Anne’s Cathedral for the service. Before that, he will meet with the religious leaders of Northern Ireland.

Shortly thereafter, the royal couple will fly from Belfast to London.

At 17:00, the coffin with the body of the queen will be delivered from the cathedral in Scotland to Edinburgh airport and fly to London in an hour. Her mother will be accompanied by Princess Anne.

After a 55-minute flight, the coffin will arrive at Northolt Royal Airport and be taken to Buckingham Palace, where it is expected to arrive at 20:00. The king and his wife will be there, as well as other members of the royal family.

Wednesday, September 14 (5 days after Elizabeth’s death)

On Wednesday, grandiose events will begin in London. The Queen’s coffin will be carried by cannon from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall.

The procession, followed by King Charles, will pass through the central districts of London. He is expected to arrive at Westminster Hall at 3:00 pm.

Then at 17:00 the mass pilgrimage will begin. Over the next four days, tens of thousands of people are expected to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth.

Citizens will be able to worship the Queen’s body 24 hours a day, with “queues” expected to form and long waits. Security on the site will be tight.

The royal family is also expected to appear on the scene at some point.

It is noted that during the pilgrimage, the closed coffin of the queen will lie on a raised platform in Westminster Hall and will be decorated with royal symbols (a scepter and a cross on an orb).

Thursday, September 15 (6 days after Elizabeth’s death)

The pilgrimage continues.

Friday 16 and Saturday 17 September (7-8 days after Elizabeth’s death)

On Friday, the royal couple will visit Wales. The pilgrimage will continue.

Sunday, September 18 (9 days after Elizabeth’s death)

It is expected that foreign leaders and members of royal families from other countries will begin to arrive in London before the funeral.

Monday, September 19 (10 days after Elizabeth’s death)

The pilgrimage will end at 6:30 am. The Queen’s funeral will take place at 11 am at Westminster Abbey.

At 10:44 a.m., the coffin will be moved from the palace to Westminster Abbey. The members of the royal family will follow on foot from behind.

The funeral will be televised. Two minutes of silence.

After the funeral, a procession will take place, and the Queen’s coffin will be transferred to Wellington Arch.

From there it will be taken to Windsor Castle. From there, he will be taken by hearse to the chapel of St. George, located on the castle grounds, where a private ceremony will take place.
