Two women, Alina and Olena, were walking on the beach on Sunday evening and listening to Ukrainian music on the phone, when a Russian-speaking man pounced on them and punched them several times.

“He rushed at us. He hit me in the face, I fell to the ground, and he kicked me. Then he hit my mother three times,” Alina told Nice-Matin.

Two women arrived at a hospital in Menton. Elena has a broken nose.

The Embassy of Ukraine in France condemned the attack.

“We are closely monitoring the situation of the two Ukrainian women who were attacked in the south of France. Our consuls are in contact with the two women, who were given the necessary medical assistance. We are cooperating with the authorities to quickly investigate this terrible incident,” wrote the Embassy of Ukraine in France on Twitter.
