Authorities in Belgorod late on Tuesday announced a new explosion in the region on the border with Ukraine, where Ukrainian armed forces are believed to have carried out several attacks on Russian territory since the start of the war on February 24.

The governor of the Russian region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced the outbreak in his Telegram channel, noting:

“​​Due to the warm weather (the effect of the magnifying glass worked), ammunition spontaneously ignited in the area of ​​the village of Tymonovo, which the firefighters have not yet managed to neutralize.”

The Russian official also reported that no one was injured in the explosion, but residents of the Valuy district were evacuated “for their safety.”

“Some peasants stayed to live with their relatives in other settlements,” he added, assuring that the situation “is under his personal control.”
