According to Finnish newspaper Iltalehti, footage circulated on social media showed the prime minister dancing at a party with other well-known Finnish figures, including MP Ilmari Nurminen and TV presenter Tini Wikstrom.

Finnish MP Miko Karna urged the Prime Minister to take a drug test and make the results public.

In statements Thursday morning, Ms Marin denied using drugs and stressed that she had nothing to hide.

“I danced, I sang, I threw parties, I did legal business,” he said, adding that he doesn’t drink much alcohol. “I thought that since the videos were private, they would not be published,” he added.

The footage generated mixed reactions online, with some criticizing Ms Marin for her irresponsible behavior, while others spoke of the prime minister’s possible rise in popularity.

Ms Marin came under fire last December after a night out, shortly after an official in her government tested positive for the coronavirus.
