
Its leaders Serbia and his Kosovo they failed to reach an agreement in EU-brokered talks in Brussels today, but “discussions will continue in the coming days,” European diplomat Josep Borrell said.
“Both sides will bear full responsibility in the event of an escalation (…) There is still time until September 1,” Borel added, speaking to reporters after talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
On September 1, new administrative and border rules that Pristina wants to introduce (granting temporary residence permits to people entering Kosovo with Serbian identity cards and obliging Kosovo Serbs to replace their vehicle license plates with Kosovo ones), which Belgrade condemned.
“Unfortunately, today we did not come to an agreement (…), but this is not the end of the story. Both leaders agreed that the process should continue and discussions will resume in the coming days,” Borrell added.
