The Ukrainian armed forces announced on Wednesday the destruction of the Russian military base in Novaya Kakhovka, in the occupied Kherson region, in the south of the country, as a result of which 10 to 15 Russian soldiers were killed, EFE and Agerpres report.

The Department of Strategic Communication of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published a video on its Telegram account showing destroyed buildings, rubble and burnt equipment.

“According to preliminary information, this video confirms a successful case of ‘smoking in an unauthorized place,'” the department says, repeating the irony of Ukrainian officials who in recent days attributed the explosions on the Crimean peninsula to “unextinguished matches”.

“It has been established that 10 to 15 residents have finally left the chat and many more are preparing to leave,” the communications department added in the same ironic tone.

Nova Kakhovka, a city with a population of about 50,000 before the war, today is one of the main logistical centers of Russian troops in the Kherson region.

Vitaly Gura, the deputy head of the pro-Russian civil-military administration in Novaya Kakhovka, died on August 6 as a result of an attack by unknown persons.

The Russian occupiers have confirmed that Ukrainian troops fired, apparently from KHIMARS, on the barracks of Russian troops in Novaya Kakhovka.

At the same time, the Russian occupiers are urgently transferring planes and helicopters to the occupied Crimea after a series of explosions on the annexed peninsula, reports Unian with reference to official sources.

In particular, Russian troops are taking measures to partially transfer aviation equipment from advanced airfields in Crimea to alternative airfields and permanent military bases on the territory of the Russian Federation.

“After the recent events in Crimea, the Russians urgently transfer their planes and helicopters deep into the peninsula and to the airfields of the Russian Federation,” reports the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Thus, at least 24 planes and 14 helicopters have been redeployed, the GUR reports.
