
At least four people were injured on Wednesday as a result of Russian troops shelling Odesa region in southern Ukraine with cruise missiles early in the morning, the Southern Operational Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported.
The X-22 missiles were launched by Tu-22 bombers, according to a statement published by the Southern Command on its Facebook page, which mentions that four civilians required medical attention after the attack, EFE and Agerpres quoted agencies as saying.
As a result of the shelling, the coastal tourist complex and several nearby residential buildings were damaged, where the fire spread, reports the Southern Operational Command.
In turn, the deputy head of the Presidential Administration in Kyiv, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, published several photos on his Telegram account showing the crater and destroyed buildings.
He specified that the city of Zatoka, located approximately 20 kilometers southwest of Odesa, was hit by the strike, where seven buildings of the recreation center and 15 tourist villas were damaged by the strikes.
According to Ukrinform, there were two X-22 missiles.
This is not the first time Russian troops have used cruise missiles against strategically important ground targets in the region, reports EFE.
Despite the attacks, the sea corridor for grain exports agreed between Ukraine and Russia under the auspices of Turkey and the UN continues to operate, and four more ships with agricultural products left the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk on Wednesday. reports Ukrinform.
