At least 15 soldiers were killed today in a double bomb blast in northern Burkina Faso.
According to an army statement, the first bomb exploded as an armored personnel carrier passed by, and the second as other soldiers rushed to help.
So far, no organization has claimed responsibility for the double explosion, while investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible, the report emphasizes.
Jihadist groups linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State have been active in the region since 2015.
A day earlier, militants had attacked a village in the area, killing ten people, the provincial governor of Bam said.
After President Kaboré was overthrown in a coup d’état last January, the military seized power promised to restore law and order to Burkina Faso. However, the activity of jihadist organizations continues. Thousands of people were killed and about 1.85 million people were forced to flee their homes.
