North Macedonia will deliver tanks and aircraft to Ukraine. This information was confirmed on Twitter by Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the cabinet of the President of Ukraine.
“A friend in need is a friend. No matter your country’s size or GDP, what matters is your heart. Many people today show more courage than half of the G20. Like North Macedonia, which shrugged off Ukraine the form of tanks and planes. We will never forget it,” Podolyak wrote.
The North Macedonian Ministry of Defense has neither confirmed nor denied this information, reports Ukrayinska Pravda. The department promised that decisions on the transfer of military equipment to Ukraine “will be declassified and presented in a transparent manner”.
North Macedonian aircraft purchased from Ukraine
North Macedonian authorities purchased a batch of Su-25 attack planes from Ukraine in 2001, when armed clashes erupted between Macedonian security forces and Albanian separatists in the northwestern Balkan country.
On 29 July, the Ministry of Defense of North Macedonia confirmed that it intended to transfer Soviet T-72 tanks to Ukraine. The military department clarified that it would take them out of service for years to come. The country’s army is armed with 31 tanks of this model.
