
Eight people were killed and four injured as a result of Russian artillery shelling of the city of Toretsk in eastern Ukraine. Donetskthe regional governor said.
The shelling hit a bus stop where people had gathered, Governor Pavel Kirilenko wrote on Telegram. Three children were among the victims, he said.
Andrey Germak, his chief of staff Ukrainian Presidentcalled the attack “another terrorist act” by Russia, and reiterated his calls for other countries to declare Russia a state sponsor of terrorism, leading to additional sanctions against Moscow.
Russia denies attacks on civilians and dismisses allegations of war crimes, which it calls a “special military operation” to demilitarize and “denazize” Ukraine. Ukraine claims to have been subjected to an unprovoked invasion.
