About 20 hectares of dry vegetation, blackberries and garbage caught fire on Monday evening in the town of Balanu in Hunedoara County, News.ro reported. Firefighters tackled the blaze, but efforts were made difficult by strong winds and they will be monitoring the area at the base of the slope tonight to make sure the fire has not reached homes. Brasov firefighters are also fighting a forest fire that has covered 10 hectares in the Fegaras Mountains.

“Military firefighters from Hunedoara detachment card operated today with two special fire engines in the radius of the village of Balanu, commune of Rau de Maury, to contain a fire of dry vegetation, blackberries and rubbish, which spread over approximately 20 hectares of land. Employees of the Retezat Forest Circle also came out to support the firefighters,” ISU Hunedoara reported.

According to the cited source, the intervention of operational teams was difficult, as there were several outbreaks, the territory was difficult to access, and at the same time, strong wind contributed to the spread of the flames.

“With reduced visibility, firefighters retreated to the foot of the slope, where they will remain under surveillance overnight to ensure that the fire does not threaten households in the area,” ISU Hunedoara also reported.

For their part, firefighters from Brasov County report a forest fire in the Făgăraș Mountains (Victoria District – Valea Ucea Mare / Padurea Gardomani).

“According to the first information, it is likely that the foci of the fire spread over an area of ​​approximately 10 hectares. Intervention activities are complicated due to the fact that it is impossible to reach the source of the fire with emergency vehicles, firefighters have to walk for more than 2 hours, at night, over rough terrain,” he sent to ISU Brasov. .
