Victories with Djokovic at the end of 2023 gave Yannick Sinner confidence

After Sinner (22 years old) lifted the trophy and mathematically secured the second place in the ATP hierarchy (the best place in his career), Cahill (former coach of Simona Halep) explained the secret of the student’s game.

The renowned Australian coach also spoke about the BIG 3 and why it’s unfair for any future generation to ever be compared to the heydays of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.

Darren recalls the end of last season, in which Yannick managed to overcome the psychological barrier with two victories over Novak Djokovic (in the Davis Cup and Champions Tour groups).

The way he finished last season helped Yannick tremendously. He has grown a lot in the last year, but the victories in Turin (Tournament of Champions) and the Davis Cup were very important moments for him. He was able to bring that wave of confidence with him to the Australian Open and now he really knows what he’s capable of.” – Darren Cahillquoted by Sportskeeda.

Meanwhile, the Italian defeated Joker once again in the semi-finals of the 2024 Australian Open.

No generation should match the BIG 3 (Federer, Nadal and Djokovic), says Darren Cahill

The BIG 3 have amassed 66 Grand Slam titles to date and Darren Cahill believes they will never dominate world tennis again.

Roger, Rafa and Nole have won major titles over the seasons and the statistics of all three are impressive.

Federer (retired) is 20 Grand Slams away, while Nadal and Djokovic could at least theoretically win something more (Rafa, maybe Roland Garros, while Nole is still green and could win some major trophies).

“Well, I don’t think anyone should compare themselves to this generation of Novak, Federer and Nadal. What they have managed to achieve in such a long period of time is remarkable. I don’t think we’ll ever see that kind of dominance again, regardless of the current situation,” Darren Cahill on the BIG 3’s incredible performances.

“I wouldn’t start comparing what Carlos (Alcaraz), Yannick (Sinner) or Holger (Roon) is doing with the previous generation yet, because it would be unfair. They need time to find their way.

The level is there but they need to win a lot more before you can compare with these (BIG 3) guys,” he concluded Darren Cahill.
