After eliminating Sorana Kirstea in the round of 16, Danielle Collins (53 WTA) overcame Caroline Garcia, number 23 in Miami, in straight sets.
The American dominated in both sets, making three breaks and giving her opponent only five games.
Collins, a 2022 Australian Open finalist, booked her place in the next round in one hour and 16 minutes.
In the penultimate act of the competition, Danielle Collins will meet the winner of Russian Kateryna Aleksandrova (16 WTA) and American Jessica Pegula (5 WTA).
Victoria Azarenka and Olena Rybakina will play in the other semi-final.

The WTA 1000 category tournament will be held in Miami from March 19 to 31. The game is played on a hard surface and the total prize money awarded is $8,995,555. The champion of the overall title is Petra Kvitova (she is pregnant and will not participate in this year’s edition).
