Energoatom: “extremely dangerous” situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP
The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe seized by Russian forces, is in an “extremely dangerous” situation after the attack, Energoatom announced, Kyiv Independent reports.
The external power line connecting the station to Ukraine’s power system was disconnected after the strikes, the Ukrainian state utility company said. At the moment, there is only one connection to the Ukrainian electricity grid.
“The situation is extremely dangerous and threatens to create an emergency situation. In the event of disconnection of the last connection to the domestic power grid, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant will experience another blackout,” said Petro Kotin, head of NAEC “Energoatom”.
